Devotional Reflection: "Joyful Obedience"

Psalm

“I Delight to fulfill your will, my God, for your living words are written upon the pages of my heart.” (Psalm 40:8, TPT)

This is one of my favorite verses in the Bible. It’s an invitation to live passionately for God. Here we see that David didn’t follow God’s laws out of drudgery or to try to earn his way into heaven. Following God was a delight and a joy for him. How? How did David get to this type of relationship with God? This verse answers that question.

God’s word was “written upon the pages” of his heart. He had a revelation of God’s Word that led him to a deep and loving relationship with him.

That’s why I regularly pray that the Holy Spirit will give me that same type of revelation every time I open up my Bible. I want to know God like David did. I want that same passion to follow God’s ways.

God, through Your Holy Spirit write Your living Word on the pages of our hearts.
