Waiting on God: A Test of Faith

What has God called you to do? What challenges and insecurities are you facing?

Every time I step forward to preach or lead worship I have to stand against the thoughts of discouragement that come against me. These thoughts try to highlight who I am not and what gifts I need that I do not possess.

In reality these thoughts aren’t far off from the truth, but I’ve learned to tap into a greater truth before I step forward to minister to people. That truth is the Word of God. But I do more than simply read Scripture; I’ve learned to pray it, meditate on it, and let God speak to me and strengthen me through it.

Here’s one of my favorite texts to spend time with before I minister:

“But he answered me, ‘My grace is always more than enough for you, and my power finds its full expression through your weakness.’ So I will celebrate my weaknesses, for when I’m weak I sense more deeply the mighty power of Christ living in me… when I feel my weakness… I am made yet stronger. For my weakness becomes a portal to God’s power.”

(2 Corinthians 12:9-10, TPT)

So the next time you are bombarded with thoughts (or even words from people!) that try to tell you why you can’t do what God is telling you to do, tap into something greater. Choose to listen to what God has to say about the matter in His perfect and eternal Word!
