Many of us, as we walk in our God-given purpose, encounter moments of self-doubt. We wonder if we have what it takes. Thoughts of inadequacy arise, pointing out what we lack, and these thoughts often come with discouragement. But there's hope—God has already given us everything we need to fulfill our calling.

Waiting on God has to be one of the biggest tests of our faith. It can be incredibly challenging and often frustrating. We all go through seasons where we desperately want to hear from Him—whether seeking direction for a life decision, waiting for healing, or desiring clarity in relationships. This longing for guidance is universal.
If we’re honest, when we surrender something to God in extreme obedience—be it our dreams, plans, or will—we expect Him to respond quickly. In our fast-paced world, it’s disheartening when our spiritual journey doesn’t align with our timeline.
So what do we do when we’ve earnestly sought His presence but find ourselves still playing the “waiting game”? During these uncertain moments, it’s easy to become anxious or disillusioned. We might wrestle with doubts, questioning if we truly heard God’s voice. The silence can feel deafening.
Waiting is essential for spiritual growth. It deepens our relationship with God, builds resilience, and cultivates trust in His timing. During this time, we can lean into our faith as an anchor and reflect on our priorities, preparing our hearts for what God has in store.
We must remember that God is not idle; He is always at work behind the scenes. Although we may not see the full picture now, we can trust that His plans are for our good.
Here are two suggestions to navigate this waiting process. The first comes from a sermon that resonated with me: “Are you waiting to hear from God for direction? While you wait, think back to the last thing He told you to do and stay faithful to that until He speaks again.” This wisdom reminds us that even in limbo, there’s work to be done, encouraging steadfastness in our commitments.
The second thought is that waiting with God doesn’t mean inactivity. This season can be transformative if we actively engage in it. God often does His greatest work while we wait, but it requires our participation. This is our opportunity to dig deeper into Scripture, immerse ourselves in prayer, and earnestly seek His face.
Remember, this is not wasted time; it’s growing time! Each moment spent in patience can lead to profound spiritual maturity. By embracing this waiting period, we open ourselves to God’s guidance and revelations in His perfect timing.
